Design Award for Dräger Medical Device
Intensive care supply unit awarded the 2009 red dot design
award.
Lübeck, Germany – In one of the most renowned international design
competitions, the "red dot award: product", the wall supply unit
GeminaDUO received an award in the category "Life Science and
Medicine".
With this award, the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen attests to the high
degree of innovation, particularly in functionality and ergonomics, of the
GeminaDUO. The vertically mounted supply unit supports the physician and
nursing staff in their daily work. It carries medical technical devices such as
suction devices, syringe pumps, CVP poles, monitors and ventilators with a
total weight up to 150 kilograms.
The advantages: improved workflows for clinical personnel, good access to
the patient, simplified maintenance, flexible positioning of the devices and a
space-saving design. Thus, the workplace has been designed with improved
safety in mind. Whether in the emergency room, intensive care unit,
intermediate care station or recovery room: Lighting options such as night,
reading and examination lights, and individual colour concepts, ensure a
patient-friendly environment.
Dräger developed the wall supply unit based on internal design guidelines that
specify features such as colour, form, lettering and material selection for all
medical products. The project was created together with Bachorski Design of
Lübeck, Germany.
A total of 3,231 products from 49 countries were presented to the international
selection committee of the "red dot award: product". 683 products received an
award. In the category Life Science and Medicine, about 150 products were
submitted, and 56 were awarded a prize.
