Dräger Safety takes over company in South Africa
Production of breathing masks for the regional market
Effective 1 July 2004, Dräger Safety AG & Co. KGaA (Lübeck) took over breathing mask manufacturer Zenith Safety Products Trust, King William’s Town (South Africa). In doing so, the Lübeck hazard management specialist has become an important manufacturer of light respiratory protection products on the South African market. "With our new production company, Dräger Safety Zenith (Pty) Ltd., we have underlined our commitment in South Africa as a sales, service and production company“, announced Safety CEO Professor Albert Jugel. As he went on to explain, the takeover will allow Dräger Safety to make available an extensive range of safety products and services to the regional market – particularly in the sectors of mining and industry. Under its Pioneering Solutions slogan, Dräger Safety is now in a position to offer individual system solutions in the South African market, too, with a view to meeting its customers' requirements.
Dräger Safety Zenith manufactures filtering respiratory protection masks which protect the wearer from dust and aerosols. Such masks became the focus of public interest worldwide in connection with SARS.
Dräger has been represented on the South African market since the 1960s, and has operated its own subsidiary there since 1991 (Dräger South Africa Pty Ltd.).
