| Dräger lays the foundation stone for new headquarters for the Medical subgroup in Lübeck / Dietrich Austermann: “Symbolic of a healthy business environment” / Stefan Dräger: “New building will strengthen our competitiveness”

| Lübeck, Germany, August 24, 2006– In the presence of Dietrich Austermann, economics minister, and Bernd Saxe, mayor, Stefan Dräger, Executive Board Chairman of Drägerwerk AG, and Dr. Wolfgang Reim, Executive Board Chairman of Dräger Medical, laid the foundation stone for the new headquarters of the Dräger Medical subgroup on Finkenstrasse. The investment of some EUR 50 million will create a building that meets the increased demands on communication and the flow of knowledge. In 2004, Dräger Medical struck a deal with the city and state to secure the business location in the long term. The Hanseatic city of Lübeck was able to win out against the strong competition, both national and international. |

| Dietrich Austermann, economics minister, said on the occasion of laying the foundation stone: “Dräger is symbolic of the healthy business environment in Lübeck and of the attractive location that is Schleswig-Holstein. The new building taking shape here is an impressive example showing that our economy is strong and looking to the future.” |

| “We are on the road to becoming a knowledge-based organization. Openness, transparency, flexibility and communication are becoming more and more important”, said Stefan Dräger. “This building will help us along this road and strengthen our competitiveness. That’s why we are making this investment.” |

| “At the same time, the building is an expression of our development to date and of our expectations of future development and change”, said Dr. Wolfgang Reim. “Dräger Medical has grown steadily in the past. We want to continue this success story founded on good results with our people in the new building.” The five-story building has room for up to 1,200 employees and should be ready for occupancy at the end of 2007. It was designed by the Munich architects Goetz and Hootz. The general contractor is CommerzBaucontract GmbH. |
