Intubation is related to an increased risk for infections like ventilator-associated pneumonia [3]
The use of NIV has been shown to reduce the need for intubation, decrease the hospital length of stay and reduce the number of complications [4,5,6,7]
NIV helps to avoid reintubation and enhance recovery times [6,7]
