The foundations for this success story were laid in October 1907 when Johann Heinrich Dräger, who founded the organisation, patented the first mobile emergency ventilator. Within a few months, this Pulmotor had become part of the standard equipment used by emergency services all over the world.

Since then, the technological concept behind the Pulmotor has been advanced many times. But it remains the conceptual basis for modern-day ventilation equipment in every single CareArea™ – from emergency and long-term ventilation to anaesthesia and home care.
