Mine Emergency Response Planning

Traditionally during mine fires, external firefighting teams would have to enter the mine to put out a fire. With Dräger’s ChargeAir system, miners can quickly transition from escape to firefighting mode without losing valuable time.

The most common form of emergency breathing air for mine escape situations is self-contained self rescuers (SCSRs), like the Oxy line of SCSRs. These belt-mounted devices allow for each miner to have up to 60 minutes of emergency breathing air available at all times. For mines with long escape routes, ChargeAir caches and refilling stations can be used to supplement SCSRs.

Mine rescue requires specialized equipment to allow rescue teams to enter and maneuver in mines for a prolonged period of time. Closed-circuit breathing apparatuses allow rescue teams to operate for a long period of time inside the mine during rescue operations.
