We’re focused on design for recycling and product take-back.
The dismantling of devices allows us to turn waste into key resources. We actively take back most of our own products, boosting the 'circular' economy. Therefore, as a certified waste management company we have made it our goal to get the best possible from our waste and at the same time, support our customers in disposal with recycling passes as well as material lists, sketches and actual dismantling.
The recycling rate at Dräger headquarters in Germany in 2022 was an impressive 97% - but we are still aiming for more!
Product return program
We dispose of what cannot be recycled and comply with all applicable regulations.
Anaesthesia machines are a great example, as they contain plastic cartridges filled with soda lime, which has been classified as hazardous waste since 2015 and must be disposed of separately from the cartridges themselves. Dräger’s waste management unit in Germany handles it, returning used cartridges to our recycling centre.
Pure plastic parts are recycled and about 600g of CO2 are saved per absorber.
