Dräger consumables and accessories are tested with our medical devices according to the standards including but not limited to ISO 80601-2-12 (critical care ventilators), ISO 80601-2-13 (anaesthetic workstation), ISO 80601-2-19 (infant incubators), ISO 80601-2-74 (respiratory humidifying equipment). A Declaration of Compatibility certifies that a certain product has been tested in combination with the corresponding device. For optimal results and safety, it is essential to use Dräger approved consumables and accessories and with Dräger devices, otherwise correct functioning and performance might be compromised.

In Germany, hospitals are the fifth largest producer of waste and in the US, hospitals produce more than 8 kg of waste per bed per day.² This is a global healthcare challenge where supply chain routes are also a factor.
The reality is that large amounts of waste and emissions are generated during the medical care of patients. Dräger aims to make hospital consumables and accessories sustainable across the whole product life cycle in order to sustainably reduce waste. We aim to be an essential part of protecting our future, from production to delivery, ensuring responsible stewardship every step of the way.

Biocompatibility testing of medical devices and biomaterials is crucial to mitigate risks such as adverse reactions, tissue damage, thrombosis, haemolysis, acute systemic toxicity, genotoxicity, carcinogenicity, and device failure⁴. These issues jeopardize patient safety and cause harm and discomfort. Our product range for non-invasive ventilation (NIV), prioritizes patient safety and comfort. By using soft, hypoallergenic materials and ergonomic designs, we aim to minimize complications and enhance care quality. NIV reduces treatment errors, shortens ICU and hospital stays, improves quality of life, and increases survival rates, especially when applied early^5,6,7. By focusing on lung protective ventilation and biocompatibility compliance, we advance healthcare solutions that improve clinical outcomes. Our accessories and consumables are designed with patient comfort and ease of use in mind— they are an essential part of securing patient safety and comfort.

A key component when using non-invasive ventilation (NIV) is rotation strategies, e.g. alternating mask types and selecting suitable interfaces. This significantly improves NIV outcomes by reducing skin breakdown, ulcerations, and pressure points^8,9. These strategies enhance comfort, tolerance, and effectiveness^10,11. Dräger ventilation masks are made with medical-grade materials and compatible with a variety of interfaces, are an essential part of NIV strategies.

By engineering solutions that ensure compatibility and functionality, we have developed a one-working system that enhances safety and streamlines workflows. Additionally, we conduct rigorous testing that complies with international standards like IEC 62366 and the FDA Guidance, which applies to Human Factors and Usability Engineering to Medical Devices.
