Dräger receives Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Surgical Lighting Award

Dräger is now the ONLY vendor awarded a Non-Expendable (NX) Equipment Program requirements contract for Surgical Lighting Systems, listed by VHA’s Equipment Life Cycle Management (ELCM Annual Planning Cycle (va.gov)) program in their National Equipment Catalog (NEC). Per ELCM, such contracts are for “commonly purchased, clinically vetted equipment, which expedites procurement and leverages volume discounts.”

The Dräger surgical lighting portfolio offers excellent illumination for all surgical applications at different price points. Our design strategy allows hospitals to seamlessly upgrade lighting systems, high-definition camera systems, and related technology – without incurring heavy renovation costs.

The new Dräger Polaris 600 surgical light combines advanced technologies to support precision and efficiency. Intuitive controls adapt the light to each procedure and individual surgeon’s need, freeing staff to focus on the patient. Key features of the Polaris 600 are that it has a single point of control, which makes it easy to change color and light intensity, and that it adapts to all surgical disciplines to achieve the hospital’s goals.

Why Draeger?

Advancing the clinical workplace can help improve patient outcomes

At the Dräger Design Center, hospitals can bring their vision of a new OR, ICU, or neonatal care area to life – before they build it. Dräger starts by meeting with the hospital team to capture its goals for the new space. While every design is different, all are based on more than a century of experience in improving critical care.

Dräger’s 3D modeling tool lets the hospital explore different approaches and visualize each idea. Unit designs address today's best practices and key initiatives – such as reducing infection, streamlining workflow, and increasing the satisfaction of patients, family and staff.

Once the hospital is happy with the design on paper, Dräger puts the critical care equipment in place so the team can physically experience the new layout and make final modifications. By eliminating risks and surprises, hospitals can save time and money in creating an ideal environment for delivering optimal care. The result is a flexible design that meets the hospital’s needs – both now and in the future.
