Hospital workflow analysis - Putting the patient at the center of care

Maintaining the highest standard in care is a direct result of a properly designed patient care workspace. Proper utilization of space can help improve patient outcomes, staff efficiency, and family satisfaction – which are important to meeting Triple Aim goals.

Our philosophy is to design the room ‘from the patient out’ by creating a cockpit of care. Designing from the patient out is a process of considering the patient, the bed/incubator, and all items necessary for patient care before you determine how they will be stored, supported or interfaced with the building – such as from the wall, on a boom or beam. Considerations must be made for staff, sight lines and overall workflow. Through one-on-one consultation with hospital staff, we can help you create critical care workplaces that optimize efficiency, use of space, and your budget.

With more than 50 years of experience providing architectural and critical care products, our solutions are grounded in clinical expertise and extensive hospital workflow analysis. We understand that the care areas you build today must be able to meet your changing needs for years to come. That’s why flexibility and scalability are built into every design.

Realizing your vision

Hospital staff is an integral part of our design process – from start to finish. We start by determining the needs of all parties concerned, including clinicians, patients and families. We examine processes through extensive hospital workflow analysis and consultation, and incorporate evidence-based design guidelines to help eliminate the everyday challenges.

Once we have determined your optimal care environment, we help you see the result through 3D visualization. Next, we create your optimal design in our state-of-the-art Design Center where you can actually experience the environment before you build it.

As a result, you end up with acute care workplaces that can positively impact your processes, standard of care, and return on investment.

Our design process includes:

  • Planning workshops to determine requirements
  • Workflow analysis and documentation
  • Interactive 3D planning software to visualize designs
  • Dräger Design Center for hands-on workplace design
  • Technical drawings
