Light for added utility, safety, and comfort
Gemina offers a variety of lighting options for warm and glare-free indirect ambient wall lighting – available on all 4 sides of the Gemina . RGB 12-color selectable lighting creates a calming and pleasing therapy atmosphere. An integrated front working light allows staff to work in low light without disturbing the patient’s sleep.
Patient-supportive environment
Studies show that patient stress can negatively affect healthcare outcomes. However, a patient-supportive environment can help patients feel more comfortable and relaxed, and also contributes to staff satisfaction. Gemina's structural elements are designed to promote a patient-supportive environment.
Gemina visual design considerations include:
- Contemporary look with a friendly, less technical appearance
- Wide selection of frame rail colors and drawer finishes support a variety of room designs
- The ability to partially hide cords and items such as suction canisters reduces visual clutter
- Mounting Gemina vertically to the side of the bed frees up the wall behind for decorative imagery
User-friendly ergonomics
An ergonomic workplace design can simplify workflow, leading to more efficient and effective clinical treatment processes. A well designed, ergonomic workstation can also reduce physical strain on staff, improve room safety by eliminating floor tripping hazards, provide better patient access, and standardize workflow steps.
Ergonomic capabilities of the Gemina include:
- Ability to mount equipment and shelves at desired heights, which can help ease physical strain on caregivers
- Eye-level placement of gas outlets for monitoring services such as flow meters
- Easy-to-use control panel for effortless light control, and an optional touchless light switch
- A vertical wall design that enables easier access to the patient’s upper body than a traditional headwall design
Design supports infection control
Studies show that by taking appropriate hygiene measures, 20 to 30% of nosocomial infections could be prevented.5 Breaking the chain of contamination is an important step in preventing hospital-acquired infections. Reprocessing instructions and a wide range of disposable accessories can help minimize the risk of infections.
Infection control features of the Gemina include:
- Rounded profiles, smooth surfaces, and closed housings help avoid accumulation of dirt, while also supporting easy and effective cleaning
- Validated disinfecting methods for Gemina unit are conveniently the same as other Dräger devices
- Cable management solutions and accessory arms limit exposed cords that can accumulate dust or debris, facilitating the cleaning process and creating a neat workstation
