Dräger Offers Two Solutions for In-Mask Communications

In-mask communications can provide an important tool to fire ground operations. Dräger offers two solutions. Both connect seamlessly to the FPS 7000 full-face mask and are balanced to reduce strain. Both include a voice-amp with dual speakers.

FPS-COM 7000 P

Team Talk with Voice-Activated Communications with or without a Tactical Radio: FPS-COM 7000

The Dräger FPS-COM 7000 provides hands-free communication between all wearers of respiratory protection devices during a mission. Excellent voice quality is achieved by removing all interfering noise.

Perfect for Small Teams & Special Operations

The FPS-COM 7000 supports up to 10 firefighters on each channel group, which is easily selected with the switch on the side of the mask. A voice prompt informs which group has been selected. Up to 10 users per channel can be connected without using a tactical radio, which is especially ideal for special operations like hazardous materials response teams. In a normal building with walls, the signal works ideally with others less than 90 feet (27.4 meters) from one another or almost 300 feet (91.4 meters) line of sight.

Team Talk

Using the included Team Talk feature, the FPS-COM 7000 allows fast and efficient communication within one group or among different ones. And it works without pressing a single button. This improves safety by not distracting from required tasks. The voice-activated function also provides full-duplex communication. This means that a Firefighter can talk and listen at the same time — as if on the phone.

Relays Tactical Radio

If there is only one Firefighter connected to the fire ground tactical radio, the FPS-COM 7000 allows the automatic transfer of the received instructions for up to ten group members via short-range radio. This means that only one member of the group needs a tactical radio while everyone is still informed immediately.

Ergonomic Design

The Dräger FPS-COM 7000 was developed with a focus on ergonomic handling and intuitive operation. The set radio group is announced via the earphones. In addition, different alarm tones warn of low battery status or if you are out of range from the team communication. An optional software allows numerous setting options with which one can adapt the system to precise team operations.

Digital Noise-Reduction

The newly developed digital noise reduction automatically suppresses ambient noises and only transmits your voice. In particular, breathing noise is filtered out preventing it from being transmitted to the voice amplifier or the radio. The integrated loudspeakers, with which you can interact directly with the injured people and team members without radio equipment, also have this function.

Flexible Earpieces

In addition, the two earpieces fit as closely as possible to make sure information is not lost and that radio messages do not need to be repeated. The FPS-COM 7000 uses flexible gooseneck earpieces that easily adapts to different head sizes and shapes. This attention to detail helps prevent miscommunication — so your team has clear direction and can act quickly. The FPS-COM 7000 software allows the earpieces to be programmed with one for Team Talk and the other for fire ground tactical radio. Or both can broadcast both.

Robust & Waterproof

The robust communication unit adapts seamlessly to the Dräger FPS 7000. The robust design of the Dräger FPS-COM 7000 can resist even strong shocks and impacts. It is resistant to extreme temperatures and has protection class IP67. This means the Dräger FPS-COM 7000 is waterproof and can be easily cleaned after the operation. In addition, the balanced weight distribution prevents neck muscles from straining and increases wearing comfort — without restricting movement or limiting field of view.

Tactical Radio Connection

You can use the attached jack to connect the FPS-COM 7000 to more than 350 different radio sets via the external Dräger C-C440 push-to-talk button or the Dräger C-C550 remote speaker microphone. Or you can connect the FPS-COM 7000 directly to the radio and use the built-in, programmable push-to-talk button.

Voice Amplification

Two speakers mounted on the sides of the FPS-COM 7000 point in the direction the user faces for more effective communication. Speakers are flush mounted to reduce snag hazard and improve balance. The programmable button can be used for push-to-talk with the voice amp.

Power-Saving Design

Forgot to turn off the FPS-COM 7000 after your shift? No problem. After a pre-alarm, the communication unit shuts off automatically if there are no breathing sounds for 10 minutes. This increases the battery life, lowers maintenance costs, and ensures that your equipment is ready for use when it’s needed. And the FPS-COM 7000 uses two AA batteries.

Configurable to Your Department's Needs

The FPS-COM 7000 contains several configurable options using a connection with the available PC software. The unit meets the requirements for NFPA 1981, 2019 Edition.
