Drägerman: A storied history

On March 10, 1906, a massive mine explosion shook the French town of Courrières. Answering the call for aid, Bernhard Dräger rushed to the scene with a breathing apparatus his company had recently developed. This new technology, and the commitment behind it, burnished Dräger’s reputation as a champion for safety. That reputation endures. Even today, North American mine rescue workers are known as Drägermen.
