“…Airway humidification represents a key intervention in mechanically ventilated patients. Inappropriate humidification may negatively impact clinical outcomes by damaging airway mucosa, prolonging mechanical ventilation, or increasing work of breathing.”1

Enabling lung protective ventilation with active humidification

During mechanical ventilation the supplied air is typically cold and dry which can lead to diverse problems for the patient. The Dräger Aquapor H300 respiratory humidifier warms and humidify the cold and dry medical gasses to ensure that patients who require mechanical breathing support are supplied with optimally conditioned breathing gases.

Benefits of Active Humidification in mechanical ventilation:

  • To improve efficient gas exchange
  • Decrease work of breathing and thus increase patient comfort and therapy tolerance
  • Reduce infection risks with natural breathing mechanism
  • Prevents long-term damages to enable lung protective mechanical ventilation

Did you know…

During mechanical ventilation the supplied air is typically cold and dry which can lead to diverse problems for the patient e.g. to a slowdown of mucociliary clearance. Wouldn't it be better for the patient to directly receive moistened breathing air?
