In order to complement the existing portfolio of reusable ECG leads, Dräger has developed a highquality ECG lead system intended for singlepatient use. These products will help reduce the risk of nosocomial infections, thus supporting hospital guidelines for hygiene. Furthermore, they will reduce the costs involved with treatment of such nosocomial infections.

Single patient use ECG

Infection - an ever-present danger 
In hospitals today, nosocomial infections are on the rise(1). In addition to the significant morbidity and mortality these can cause, hospital-acquired infections increase the cost of care(2) while their treatment can give rise to even more resistant strains of microbes. Clearly, avoiding these complications should be a primary concern for everyone involved. 
Several studies have shown that reusable ECG lead wires can be a pathway for antibiotic-resistant pathogens and a cause of healthcare associated infections(3,4,5,6), prompting the increased use of single-patient use products wherever feasible(7, 8). That is why Dräger has designed a new, single-patient use ECG lead system that can help you reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections at your hospital and simultaneously reduce the cost of care.
