Workplace Emergency Preparedness

Ask an expert

Be optimally prepared for emergencies in workplaces

in your industrial plant critical situations can arise at any time. All the more important is a detailed emergency plan, regular team training and the right escape & rescue equipment. This enables a rapid reaction and an effective emergency response. We support your emergency preparedness in the workplace with structured emergency management, specific escape equipment and professional emergency training.

Professional management of emergency plans

We know that sudden and fully unplanned situations with hazardous substances can occur within seconds and no escape-scenario is the same. Chemical and industrial plants are subject to high safety requirements, where safety managers have to manage the remaining risks in the best possible way. However, if serious incidents arise, such as toxic gas accumulation, exceeding explosion limits or other life-threatening events, emergency preparedness and emergency plans must be effective.

Emergency preparedness in the workplace

A functioning safety culture consists of solid risk analysis and planning, the right technical equipment, and particularly well-prepared and trained employees. A detailed escape and rescue plan is the basis for all measures emergency teams or plant fire brigades need to take in case of an incident.

Dräger offers you an extensive range of consulting and planning services for your safety management. We can support you with work-based alarm and hazard prevention plans, evacuation procedures and emergency plans.

Prevention and protection of emergencies

Monitoring of hazardous substances through standardised processes and the installation of safety systems are essential to control or reduce the effects of hazardous substance leakages that may affect employees’ health and the environment..

Therefore, we offer a wide range of safety solutions: from mobile and stationary gas detectors to personal protective equipment. Whatever you need, we can advise and support you in procurement, installation and implementation.

Escape and rescue devices for emergency plans

The risk assessment of your work areas tells exactly what dangers and risks to employees and equipment can potentially be expected. The nature and consequences of these risks will vary greatly – depending on the plant area, production stage or activity. In light of such dangers, escape and rescue equipment should be selected according to the specific task or situation. This includes, among other things, the consideration of necessary protection factors as well as the probable escape duration.

We are there to help you with the selection of Dräger equipment that best meet your requirements.

Training for emergency

Training is the final step to creating effective emergency preparedness and response plans. Escape equipment and rescue devices cannot help unless they are handled correctly. In an emergency, all employees need to reach a safe destination as soon as possible. The rescue of injured or buried people has the highest priority, where rescue teams in particular are confronted with dangerous situations. Good training helps you to keep calm and maintain an overview of the situation. Practice drills serve not only to train people, but also to validate emergency plans.

We provide comprehensive hands-on training courses and develop individual training scenarios tailored to your specific needs.

Compressed-air escape devices and oxygen self-rescuer

Self-contained breathing devices provide a clean air supply that is independent from ambient air. They are used when hazardous substances occur at high concentrations and/or oxygen is depleted and allow an escape time of up to 15 minutes. Especially when working underground, a longer escape time is necessary to reach safety. This is where the oxygen self rescuers come in with an escape time of up to an hour.
