Luigi Camporota MD, PhD, FRCP, FFICM is an Intensivist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust – one of the 5 ECMO centres in the UK – and clinical lead for the Severe Respiratory Failure and ECMO service at St Thomas’ Hospital. Academically. Dr. Camporota is a senior lecturer in critical care in the division of Centre for Human & Applied Physiological Sciences (CHAPS), School of Basic & Medical Biosciences, Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine, King's College London.

He has a clinical and research interest in Respiratory failure, ARDS, mechanical ventilation, respiratory monitoring, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and extracorporeal carbon dioxide removal (ECCO2R).

Prof Paolo Navalesi graduated cum laude in Medicine at the University of Genoa. He has a Post-graduate Research Fellowship at the Meakins-Christie Laboratories and Royal Victoria Hospital, McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He is Full Professor of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine at the Department of Medicine of the University of Padua. Director of Anesthesia and Intensive Care at the University Hospital of Padua.

Prof Navalesi’s research focuses especially, but not exclusively, on mechanical ventilation (noninvasive ventilation; patient-ventilator interaction, weaning and extubation, new modes of mechanical ventilation). He has many national and international collaborations.
