About Prof. Grasselli

Prof. Grasselli is Associate Professor of Anesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine at the University of Milan. He is the Medical Director of the Intensive Care Unit of the Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico in Milan (Italy), a tertiary referral Center for the treatment of patients with acute respiratory failure and with extensive research experience in the fields of mechanical ventilation, respiratory physiology and extracorporeal respiratory support. He is one of the coordinators of the Italian ECMO Network and is now coordinating the Regional Network of COVID-19 ICUs in Lombardy.

During the last three years, Prof. Grasselli was the Italian National Representative in the Council of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) and is currently chairing the Intensive Care Section of the Italian Society of Anesthesia, Resuscitation, Intensive Care and Pain Therapy (SIAARTI). A regularly invited speaker to international meetings, he actively collaborates with national and international research groups and serves as reviewer for several indexed journals.

Dr. Luigi Camporota

About Dr. Camporota

Luigi Camporota MD, PhD, FRCP, FFICM is an Intensivist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust – one of the 5 ECMO centres in the UK – and clinical lead for the Severe Respiratory Failure and ECMO service at St Thomas’ Hospital. Academically. Dr. Camporota is a senior lecturer in critical care in the division of Centre for Human & Applied Physiological Sciences (CHAPS), School of Basic & Medical Biosciences, Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine, King's College London.

He has a clinical and research interest in Respiratory failure, ARDS, mechanical ventilation, respiratory monitoring, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and extracorporeal carbon dioxide removal (ECCO2R).

About Prof. Navalesi

Prof Paolo Navalesi graduated cum laude in Medicine at the University of Genoa. He has a Post-graduate Research Fellowship at the Meakins-Christie Laboratories and Royal Victoria Hospital, McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He is Full Professor of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine at the Department of Medicine of the University of Padua. Director of Anesthesia and Intensive Care at the University Hospital of Padua.

Prof Navalesi’s research focuses especially, but not exclusively, on mechanical ventilation (noninvasive ventilation; patient-ventilator interaction, weaning and extubation, new modes of mechanical ventilation). He has many national and international collaborations.
