FFP masks – everyone is talking about them. When the coronavirus pandemic broke out in early 2020, the masks quickly gained public attention and became part of the strategy for containing the pandemic.  Mask manufacturers across the globe were faced with a rapid increase in demand. But what does the abbreviation FFP actually stand for? What is the mask made of and how exactly are particles filtered out of the air? Let’s take a closer look at the mask that helps to protect us all.

What happens if we can no longer breathe on our own? Is it possible for a device to do this for us and to adjust to a patient if the breathing is restored? A basic principle of mechanical ventilation: Blowing air into the lungs causes an increase in pressure and the lung expands. The pressure drops again during the subsequent passive exhalation.

RFID is used for the wireless transfer of information between accessories and medical machines, simplifying clinical workflows. As an example, an RFID ventilation hose can also store specific ventilation settings. When moving the hose to another RFID-enabled Dräger anaesthesia machine, these settings can automatically be transferred.
