Outstanding light performance

Our Polaris surgical lights offer outstanding light performance to support all types of surgeries and make different tissue structures visible. A new optical system and lens design provide an optimal round light field with homogenous light.

3D Shadow Compensation

The 3D Shadow Compensation function detects objects between the light head and the surgical field and compensates for shadowing by actively controlling the LEDs. By providing a constant brightness in the surgical field, an optimal surgical procedure is facilitated.

Polaris Surgical Light explaining Light-Guard
Light Guard

A single light head cannot exceed the threshold for irradiance. However, if the light fields of two light heads are directed on the same point, the permissible limit value can be exceeded*. The Light Guard function comfortably supports and controls the irradiance on both the skin and surgical field, by limiting it to a value of 700 W/m².

Polaris Surgical Light Is cleaned for infection prevention
Designed with infection prevention in mind

Our Polaris lights are designed with smooth surfaces, resistant materials and rounded edges, to enable a faster cleaning process. Even the camera doesn’t disturb since it’s located directly in the light head under the transparent cover. The Polaris is designed for operation in laminar flow.

Learn more about the importance of surgical lighting

—

Prof. Dr. Axel S. Merseburger, professor of urology working at the university hospital Schleswig-Holstein based in Lübeck and chairman of the Department of Urology, gave an enthusiastic and enlightening interview on the importance of surgical lights in the operating theatre. While surgical lights often just belong to the infrastructure of an operating theatre in the minds of the OR personnel, he points out that they are far more than that, and that it’s worthwhile to pay more attention to purchasing high-quality lights.
