Aircraft fire training systems
Realistic fire simulation
Fires can start at many locations in an aircraft: - in the turbine
- underneath the aircraft due to kerosene spill
- in the undercarriage
- in the cargo hold
- in the cabin (e.g. luggage compartments, in the seats or in the on-board kitchen)
Every fire requires an individual procedure. Training in Dräger aircraft fire simulators is the ideal preparation for this.
Safe training conditions
Dräger gas-operated fire simulation systems are designed in accordance with the requirements of DIN 14097-2 Fire training systems - part 2: Gas-operated simulation devices. The systems also have additional safety features:
- A water-operated sprinkler cooling system for the outer hull triggers automatically as soon as external and surface fire locations are switched on.
- The simulator is anchored to withstand the load of the fire fighters and machines and the force of the water jet from fire trucks.
- In case of failures the system is equipped with a modem for remote diagnosis.
Surface fires
Kerosene spills and fires are amongst the most dangerous situations when fighting aircraft fires. The Dräger training areas for fighting liquid fires (spill fires) offer ideal conditions for implementing the ideal extinguishing strategy.
Guidelines for airport fire departments
Dräger supports its customers by implementing the ICAO requirements for airport fire services with regard to the training scenarios for aircraft fire fighting.
Variable training options
Every aircraft fire simulator is as versatile as possible. For example, surface fires, fires in cargo areas, fires inside the cabin, turbine, wing or hull fires can be simulated. This allows training for the different accident scenarios.
Simulation of all aircraft types possible
For the simulation system Dräger will build the aircraft type chosen by the customer or a combination of different aircraft types - at original scale.
Cold training
The search for injured people and the evacuation of passengers, e.g. down an emergency slide, can also be included in the systems. The interiors of the aircraft can be filled completely with smoke and fitted with a tilted level to simulate an aircraft in a lateral position.
