Leg Entry

​Special operations demand special skills: our training gets workers ready for confined space entry operations in the legs of offshore platforms. It imparts the rules, safety precautions and rescue measures that apply in emergencies.

Learning objectives

To provide personnel with prior knowledge to safely conduct relevant leg entry work and know safety procedures for escape. Delegates will also learn about the use of emergency equipment.

Course content

  • Personnel competency requirements—onshore and offshore
  • Location and uses of legs
  • ISSOW requirements—WCC/CSE/Gas Testing
  • Internal condition requirements (pre-entry checks)
  • Knowledge of the hazards prevalent in all legs
  • Knowledge of gas and fire protection systems—fixed and portable
  • Personal safety equipment requirements
  • Self rescue sets—Dräger oxygen self-rescuer
  • Understanding of atmospheric monitoring equipment
  • Emergency procedures
  • Authority of the Leg Sentry
  • Written and practical assessment
