Hospital pharmacists are responsible for monitoring the purity of medical compressed air. Medical Air Guard monitors the thresholds set by the European Pharmacopoeia for oxygen, CO, CO2, SO2, NO2 and the dew point of medical compressed air. Medical Air Guard VOC supplements the capability of the Medical Air Guard with a sensor for detecting the concentration of volatile organic compounds in medical compressed air. This reading also serves to monitor the threshold for the concentration of oil vapour in the air. Medical Air Guard CO only monitors the carbon monoxide (CO) content in the medical air. CO is a highly toxic gas that is contained in many exhausts gases. Because of the general significance of this noxious substance, ISO 7396-1 prescribes continuous measurement of CO concentration as a minimum requirement for monitoring the purity of medical compressed air for all medical compressed air systems in the hospital.All Medical Air Guard systems issue an automatic warning as soon as a preset threshold specified by the European Pharmacopoeia is exceeded for the monitored impurities. The system reliably triggers an alarm even when impurities are transient in nature. All measured data and alarms are made available to an interface for further evaluation. This allows seamless documentation of compressed air quality.
