Sophisticated processes require specific expertise – especially when it comes to safety
—Hazardous substances are a fact of life in many processes in the Food & Beverage Industry. Protecting workers health and life against potential hazards is our major challenge. In addition to protecting the health of workers, system safety is a key topic. Reliable monitoring of toxic, flammable and explosive gases is essential – and it is of utmost importance to develop emergency and incident management plans.
Our experts are familiar with safety issues in the industry and help you to find the optimal and most efficient solution for your operation.

Cold Storage in the Food & Beverage Industry
Freezing, cooling, carbonating and sterilization: Whether ammonia, carbon dioxide, chlorine or ozone, protecting workers health and life against these potential hazards is our major challenge.

Facts & Figures in the Food Processing Industry
We inhale and exhale it daily: Carbon dioxide (CO2). But did you know that CO2 can cause death in a matter of minutes at a concentration of 9 % per volume or higher? Learn more about this and other food safety scenarios in our infographic.
Our Portfolio for the Food & Beverage Industry
—Your business is concentrating on efficient processes and the quality of your products. Our business is supporting your safety in doing so – from stationary and personal gas monitoring up to respiratory protection equipment and chemical protection suits. We offer tailor made safety solutions for your specific requirements.
Cold storage
Almost all food and beverages pass through a refrigeration facility before reaching the final consumer. Toxic gases such as ammonia or carbon dioxide can occur in the refrigeration/cooling process.

Dräger Polytron® 7000
Confined Space Entry
Confined and enclosed space operations have a greater likelihood of causing fatalities than any other type of work. A typical confined space is a storage tank for example. Before entering and during operation in these tanks, the workers must be sure that no toxic substances are present.

Dräger X-am® 2800
The X-am® 2800 multi-gas detector measures up to four gases and is equipped with a particularly shock-resistant CatEx sensor. With the Dräger Gas Detection Connect software, it offers live data transmission and powerful fleet management. Designed for personal monitoring, the X-am® 2800 offers the highest level of safety at a low cost of ownership.
Fumigation and Grain Handling
Fumigation involves introducing a chemical or gas to kill insects that may otherwise contaminate food or grain. As these chemicals are toxic also to humans like phosphine or methyl bromide, the proper handling of these foods or grains requires detection and protection equipment.

Dräger Pac® 8500
The Dräger Pac® 8500 single-gas detection device is a reliable and precise instrument even under the toughest of conditions. Measured data can easily be transmitted into the Dräger Gas Detection Connect system via Bluetooth®. The device can be equipped with a hydrogen-compensated CO sensor or a Dräger dual sensor. This gives you the option of measu…
ring two gases at once: H2S with CO, H2S with O2 or O2 with CO.Carbonation and Fermenting
During the carbonation process high concentrations of carbon dioxide are used. And in the case of fermentation, high concentration of carbon dioxide will be produced. Due to the health risks relating to high concentrations of carbon dioxide, appropriate safety measures must be taken.

Dräger PIR 7200
Desinfection & Cleaning
Food and beverages are normally produced in batches. This means after each batch the machines must be cleaned and disinfected with substances such as chlorine (dioxide) and ozone to destroy harmful microorganisms on objects and surfaces.
